| GOOD NEWS, AND BAD NEWS... |
December 13, 2006 |
First, the good news - after months of searching, we've finally found us a vocalist. His name (yes, it's a he) is Dave, he's awesome and we knew pretty much as soon as he walked in the door that he was the one for Alpha State. Should have some pix soon. Thanks very much to everybody else who tried out and gave us support during the search.
Second, the not so good news. After Dave's second rehearsal, Dean's left hand was in a bit of pain so he took it to get checked out by a doctor. After a bunch of different tests and getting a few different opinions, the consensus is that he's done major damage to his thumb, has something like the early stages of arthritis and needs to stop playing for at least six months so that he doesn't cause even more permanent damage.
Needless to say the whole band is very disappointed, but our first concern is for Dean's health so Alpha State will be taking a back seat until he recovers fully. Dean tells us it's a problem that affects many drummers who play trad grip (as he does) but most make a full recovery and we're sure as hell that Dean will as well in good time.
We certainly won't be disappering completely - Dean is planning to write some electronic music (which'll be something to look out for, as anyone who's heard his electronic work in the past will be able to tell you) and the rest of us are going to try our hands at playing some covers to keep ourselves busy, so we may be back on a stage near you sooner than you think.
When Deano's back in action we promise you'll be hearing more about the new Alpha State material!
Oh - the DVD is still coming, BTW, more news on that soon...
| VOCALIST SEARCH CONTINUES |
October 13, 2006 |
We've tried out all the first round of candidates and haven't found quite the right person yet, so we're still looking for a new vocalist. Could it be you? Male or female, we don't mind as long as you're up to the job. We're working on a lot of new material now, in the vein of the metal classics (Slayer, Pantera, etc.).
We're looking for someone with a killer growl / scream who can do some clean singing as well, with stage presence and commitment. It'll be a bonus if you've got formal vocal training, recording experience and media experience.
There's gigs waiting and recording with top producers lined up. E-mail management@alpha-state.com if you reckon you're right for the job.
| M's FINAL SHOW, VOCALIST SEARCH IS ON |
July 20, 2006 |
The date for M's final live show with Alpha State has been set - September 1, at The Evelyn in Fitzroy. We'll be giving her a massive send off, so make sure you're there to be part of it!
The search for a new vocalist is also on - if there's any guys OR gals out there who reckon they'd like a stab at it, click here for more info.
| RETURN TO ROLLOVER |
July 10, 2006 |
For all the punters on the south side of the river, Alpha State will be playing with a kick-arse lineup at Rollover at The Palace THIS THURSDAY (July 13) supporting One Odd (who left audiences around the country reeling on their national tour with CKY in April) along with Zero Degrees and Falling from Canberra and our favourite catchy, cocky young upstarts The Eleventhour.
If that wasn't enough, DJ Elysium will be keep you all banging your heads and drinking hard while we drag our shit on and off the stage (DJs Hellraiser and Kid Suicide, who were to play at the show as well, have been delayed in Tokyo).
It's shaping up to be a kick-arse night of south-of-the-river fun, they're bringing in more firepower especially for the show to augment The Palace's ear-bleeding PA, so don't miss it! The Palace is on the Lower Esplanade in St Kilda, $10 on the door at 9:00pm

| M LEAVING, ALPHA STATE CONTINUING |
June 7, 2006 |
Many of you will have heard that M has announced her impending departure from Alpha State - she's posted her thoughts on our forum for anyone who wants the full storyand naturally we wish M all the best for the future. THIS DOES NOT MEAN WE'RE BREAKING UP! Far from it - auditions for a new singer are underway already and we're hoping to make an announcement in the near future.
All of the dates we've got booked still stand and M will be performing all of our shows until a new singer is found, including the two below so make sure you make it down!

We now sport a brand new Alpha State forum customised to the website. We have come into recent problems with spam on the current FORUMUP website so we solved this by creating a private forum. | ALPHA STATE HEADLINE ROLLOVER |
April 6, 2006 |
Yes boys and girls that's right, they're finally letting us loose on the Palace PA! Alpha State will be headlining the main stage at Rollover at The Palace (Lower Esplanade, St Kilda) on Thursday April 13, with support from Translate and Third Scholars. Make no bones about it, it's been two and a half months since we've been on stage and we're gonna kick seven colours of shit out of everybody that turns up.
There'll be a bunch of new songs on display that'll bang your heads harder than anything we've put out to date and new t-shirts on sale as well for those of you that have worn your current ones out or missed out on the last ones.
There might even be some new demos handed out to a lucky few people. As if you needed any more excuses, the following day is Good Friday so you don't even need to nurse your hangovers into work or school the next day. Doors at 8:00pm, $8 and make sure you tell them it's us you're there to see!
| CRAIG DEPARTS ALPHA STATE |
April 5, 2006 |
It's with no small amont of sadness we announce that Craig has left the Alpha State ranks. While it'd make life more interesting if there was some kind of Max-and-Sepultura or Dave-and-Slayer type animosity going on (we really couldn't be arsed with all the crying and bad hair involved in a Dave-and-Metallica type split) there's really not much of it to report - let's face it, there's only really a few empty cans of Wild Turkey lying on the rehearsal room floor and the 'special' calendar from Joe's Quality Meat Corner to argue over anyway ;)
We wish Craig all the very best for the future, he's been a part of Alpha State from day one and has played a massive part in making us the band we are today.
| WE ATEN'T DEAD! |
February 28, 2006 |

January 8, 2006 |
Happy two thousand and sex to y'all! Here's hoping your hangovers have worn off and the return to work hasn't been too painful. For those who ain't working - bah, we're jealous! It'll give you lots of free time to look at all the purty new photos on the Pix page though - all taken by our good friend Anna, who we now owe lots of free drinks ;) If anyone else has photos they'd like to redeem for free booze (or merch, if you're under 18), e-mail management@alpha-state.com. See y'all at Switch for the Emily party!
| NO, REALLY, WE'RE NOT VAIN! |
December 14, 2005 |
Well, maybe Stu is. (Actually, there's no maybe about it - he's a wanker). But that's beside the point! We're still keen to get hold of any photos that y'all have taken at gigs for the website - photo credits and free drinks for anyone who's got some, send them in to management@alpha-state.com to collect your reward!

| NEW TOYS |
October 12, 2005 |

| SONGWRITING PROGRESS |
October 3, 2005 |
The new songs are coming thick and fast. Stu and Dean's musical input, coupled with inspiration from what's been happening around us... there's so much to say! You'll soon be able to download a live version of one of the new additions to the set list, Judas Kiss, recorded live at the Espy in August.
| TERRY DATE, BOB ROCK AND... DANIEL WRIGHT?!? |
October 2, 2005 |
Maybe he doesn't have their pulling power yet, but Dan is taking a couple of days out of the Alpha State rehearsal room to complete his first commercial production job - he's working on the debut EP of young up and comers The Eleventh Hour and by all accounts things are sounding shit hot. And yes, Dan's production talents are available for hire - e-mail dan@alpha-state.com if you're interested.
