Alpha State, formed in early 2003, has emerged as a dedicated player in the Australian metal scene, gaining kudos for their high-energy live performances and take-no-prisoners attitude.
The band is one of only three official endorsees of Mesa Boogie amplifiers (www.mesaboogie.com) in Australia and has been winning fans from all walks of heavy music, drawing influences from Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera and more.
The band’s first EP Breath Away sold out its first pressing and the second EP Out Of Here, released in March 2005, also garnered many positive reviews and airplay on a number of Melbourne and regional radio stations.
Long-time vocalist M left the band on good terms for personal reasons in September 2006, and after an exhaustive search lasting many months, she was replaced on vocals by Dave Pate in late 2006. He joins guitarist and founding member Daniel Wright, NMIT school of music graduate Dean Thomson on drums and Stuart West on bass.
As of January 2007, the band is writing new material and preparing for a return both to the live scene and the studio.
